If you want to improve your website and increase the amount of visitors you receive each month, there are several things you can do; and you do not have to completely overhaul your website. These six items are easy to implement and can have amazing results:

1. Clean Up The Menus

One thing customers expect when viewing your website is clean, user-friendly menus. If you have a multitude of items in one menu, consider cleaning up your navigation so customers can more easily identify what is contained within them. This will create a much more enjoyable experience for your customers. You may want to consider adding more menus with fewer categories within each to make it easier to navigate and avoid frustrating—and losing—visitors to your website.

2. Include Contact Information, Including Social Media

If you want customers to use your service or product, you need to make yourself reachable. Always include your phone number, mailing address and an email address so customers can contact you. You may also wish to add an information or “contact us” form that will come directly to your email inbox.

In addition, you should also be sure to link every social media platform you use. A wealth of users will use your social media connections before emailing or calling. Make sure this information is prominently placed throughout your website, but definitely include it on your contact page as well.

3. Brand Your Website

Branding is crucial for the success of your business. Think about some of the most successful businesses—McDonalds has the golden arches, Nike has the swoosh, UPS is known for its brown trucks and uniforms. All of these brands are easily recognizable.

If you have branded your business with a logo, colors, a tagline or anything else, make sure you are using them on your website as well. This way, your customers will know at a glance they are using your brand and not one of your competitors.

4. Optimize Your Site For Mobile Users

More than 50 percent of Internet traffic comes from people using mobile devices when they are navigating websites. If your website is not optimized for mobile use, it can be very difficult to see your information because the menus, images, content, and everything else will be very small and hard to read. In addition, Google is known to lower the rank in the search engine results pages for websites that are not optimized for mobile use.

5. Remove Distractions

If you have any loud music or advertisements that are loud or flashy or splash pages that make it difficult for your customers to get to the information they need, consider removing it immediately to improve your website. It can be frustrating for the user and ultimately cause them to leave your website, costing you potential sales.

6. When In Doubt, Use A Professional Designer

While there are a variety of user-friendly themes and applications for those who want to build a website. However, web design is simply not for everyone. If you feel too overwhelmed working on your website, hire a professional designer to improve your website. Having a professional design your site, doesn’t have to break the bank either. The cost is typically based on the number of pages, how complicated the design is and the functionality you need.

One way to find a professional website designer is to look at other websites you like that have features that are similar to what your business requires. The designer’s information is usually listed on the website near the bottom. If it is not, you can often contact the website owner to see who they used to build his or her website.

By implementing these tips, you will find that you have a website that is very well optimized for the user. In time, your visitors will convert to customers, which will in turn grow your business.
